Dock Box Top - Any suggestions?

I'm getting ready to build a dock box and am wondering what to use for the top. I'd like to be able to clean fish/crabs and be able to wash it off with just a blast from the hose. A friend suggested Corian, but I've been unable to find out how well it would do in the sun. Any ideas or suggestions?

Corian would bankrupt you for that size piece. Look at this website and contact the plastic distributors listed. they are half what WEST and BoatUS are.

I would use

I would use 3/4" Starboard Ploy Building Material. It is stabilized to resist saltwater and UV. You can cut and shape it with your wood workng tools. I am sure you will be able to find it easily as WM does carry it.Good Luck!Jay Meyer

Jay:Starboard in a good thickness or Corian (both expensive) is heavy. I think you should conside making the lid out of 1/4" plywood with fiberglass. Then make a couple of chocks to place a cutting board on the lid when you want cut bait and fish.This method also give you the chance to place a lip on it to keep the critters and rain out.

Combine them!

Build the top with 1/2 inch marine ply, cover it with 1/4 Starboard! Will last for years. I didn't cut fish, so I made a cushion with foam and vinyl fabric, that lasted 4 seasons.
