Do you use leftover Diesel Motor oil next year?

It seems that buying a gallon of oil is more cost effective than buying the 3 quarts that I need, and quarts of oil for Diesel engines seem to be hard to come by for some reason. (although easier to work with)
Do you think that the left over oil would be good for the next oil change? The oil would sit in the closed container for a year before it would be put to use, then it would be another year before it is changed again.
So that is 2 years from container opening till draining in the fall the following year.
My mind is telling me to just recycle the leftover oil. What do you all think?

Use it. I buy a gallon every season but first pour the remains of last years gallon jug of oil, and top it off with the new jug. What's left (usually 1/2) stays onboard for topping off during the season.

Then in the fall, I repeat the above,...

In geological time a year is but the blink of an eye, your oil will be fine next year.

New, clean, engine oil in the jug should last several years, but the used engine oil in you car or boat does not stand up well sitting in the sump for very long. If I let my truck sit 6 months or more when I was out operating some boat, I'd change the engine oil on the truck when I got back.
