Phil, If you have clicked on SailNet lately, they are filing chapter 7 which means someone could buy the thing out and reopen it. Sailnet was my favorite source before it foundered. Phil, would you consider obtaining SailNet? Next Question, would people here support a major venture by Boat Owners.com? Next Question, Phil would you need backing? Next Question, could anyone here help back this venture? Just thought I would start some scuttle-butt..... r.w.landau

Why duplicate?

If you liked Sailnet, why wouldn't you like its replacement (Sailjazz) by the same creators?

One reason might be...

...that R.W. is talking about shopping rather than posting. R-dub, it would be inappropriate for us to comment on that kind of thing publicy. However, keep in mind that one of the things you probably liked about SN was their pricing. And based on the information I've seen that appears to be a big part of their downfall. They did have it goin' on though, didn't they?

Shop at HOW!

I do all of my shopping at this site and Defender. HOW has the best of both worlds-decent prices and EXCEPTIONAL customer service. I buy all of my custom made products here. Not knocking sailnet, but I have not purchased there in over two years, an order went awry and their service was below expectation. We all make mistakes from time to time, but stand behind your mistake and make it right. Customer service seems to have taken a down turn in the retail world in general. Thanks for very good customer service Phil, it sets HOW apart from the crowd. my two cents (all i have left!) chris

Yes Phil, they did!

Phil as far as SailNets pricing goes, I would not expect to get those chapter 7 type bargains. I just think that it would be cool to have one stop shopping. I am here three times a day and check out Gear Here, ( and the photo caption when a good picture is submitted) at least twice a day. I admit I have only ordered twice from the chandlery but I have bought 3 items from the gear here and one boat from the boat listing. I also sold a boat in the listings. I would click on SailNet to see the Daily/weekly Article that Sail Jazz now has. As far as Forums, none tops this! I would love to click on store/chandlery to buy the hand swag life line fitting that I need or replace that block that I broke from here. Ok, so it was just a tought.... r.w.landau

Don, Is this how you fly one of these things?

I don't have the years of experience in sail trim like Don G and a lot of others so I'm only speculating how you fly a SailJazz thong. Kind of a staysail? Mark

Mark,

Is that the extra large? Would you recommend the down wind thong? r.w.landau

SailNet's Brand

IMHO: The folks who managed SailNet's affairs at the time of the bankruptcy badly damaged the good name of the brand with poor communication. BK is going to cause some problems in the best of circumstances - but their lack of honest communication did more harm than was necessary. Because of that - I don't think the brand is salvagable. That might not apply to assets which could be acquired from SailNet without the SailNet logo and the old company's liabilities. Parts of the company may still be worth acquiring for someone depending upon how much effort management has gone to to preserve value of the various parts of the old company. Just my poor old opinion . . .

Oh my gawd, it is a thong.

Wow, it sure is a thong. A very big one at that. XXXXLLLL size. I would hate to run into the owner in a dark alley. When I 1st read the thong thing, I was trying to figure out what some of you guys were talking about. Thanks for the picture.

Not mine

It's in the HOW boat information section under owner photos. By the way, what is the deal with the marine industry getting into lingerie? This summer Quantum Sails had a G-string for sale at the Screwpile Regatta. Of course, Anticipating the Shift, I bought one. Mark

Ah, so it would appear...

the SailJazz thong is not an entirely original idea... That is too funny!
