Do these through hulls make my boat look flat?

Newport 28 MK II Halifax
I have through hulls on my newport 28 mk iii that do not have an outside flange. Can anyone tell me if this factory and if I should consider it safe? I didn't think there was anything holding them in place, but after taking the nut off of the inside, I can't unscrew the through hull.

Do I leave them?

That pipe is embedded into the hull. I have one on my boat... I don't use it for anything. There is a waterproof plywood collar fitted around it that is epoxied to the hull... that is to prevent it from breaking off. It was the manufacturer's installation and is deemed unsafe. Known problem. Solution is to cap and support... or remove and plug hole. Then install an approved thru hull fitting.

that is very good advice ....s2 was notorious for doing the cockpit drains and the exhaust outlet that way and all were below the waterline at rest .....i cut them off and glassed up the penetrations and move the all three above the water line ....and used bronze through hull fittings with hose barbs ......
