Do ionic air purifiers work?

Do ionic air purifiers work? A major retailer is offering a 12V model for cars and I was wondering if anyone has tried the technology. How effective on diesel odors and mustyness?

There's only ONE way to cure B.O.

(Boat Odors)...find the source of the odor and eliminate it. Ionizers, ozone generators etc only remove the odor from the air...as long as the source is there, it's continually necessary to cleanse the air...it's a never-ending battle. But temove the source, you remove the need to cleanse the air..problem solved..
