We are ditching our salon table. The area just feels so much bigger with the table gone.

For now we are going to use two folding tables. Ultimately, I think I am going to use the parts from the two salon tables and make a table that folds up against the bulkhead.

Has anyone else considered this?

Off subject here - But: Did you also ditch the door to the forward cabin? I took mine off last year was going to make it bi fold, but the admiral said, just leave it at home. I don't see yours in the photo?

Yup. We very rarely have overnight guests and when we do it's just my drunken friends who can't drive home. We thought about doing the bifold conversion but also decided it was better with nothing.

I have also ditched the filler piece for the helm seat. If I'm sitting it's off to the side and I prefer to stand behind the wheel.

I'm sure I have ditch some other stuff but can't remember at the moment.

Where do you eat when it is cold or raining? Where do you put all of your junk? You can tell what my salon looks like.

I'm taking a break from cleaning, reorganizing and downsizing as we speak. We rarely use the big table and we have a small one that stays on board so we have a place to eat and for drinks (we have the 9 year old so he needs a table!). Was this table factory or was it an add on? It works well for us and takes up little room.

Been throwing things out and finding new places to store things all day!

LOL, the collection of junk is one of the reasons we were thinking of getting rid of the table.

I am currently thinking about putting a self on the bulkhead with two cup holders and space for things like my keys, wallet and iPhone. I might then have a table that folds out from below it.

For now, we will use folding "TV tables" from the house.

We have never really used the big one. We did use the small one for the last couple of years. That is factory by the way. With that table and the base removed, it feels a lot bigger in the salon.

Wasn't sure. Had mine all out today when I was cleaning and thought it was nice with all of that room, we need it though! I couldn't believe how much useless stuff I accumulated on that boat!!

You guys ok up there??

I know! I have a friend with a 3 month rule. If he doesn't use something for 3 months, it goes off the boat. I think that is a little extreme but I have started a 1 year rule. With the exception of emergency equipement and spare parts, I got rid of all stuff that hasn't been used in 1 year. Filled the back of the car with all kinds of stuff.

Thanks for asking. It has been stressful. My Bride works in the Federal Reserve building so I was OK with her at work but really worried about her commute home on public transite. Normally she takes the train but she can take the commuter boat to our marina. So she took the boat today.

Of course this wasn't great. She was going by the JFK Library when they had that explosion/fire. But she is home now. Taking a break from watching the news.

Glad you are both safe.

I also leave the cockpit filler seat and the large table at home. We use the small table and it does seem to catch the wallet, cell phone, remotes, and anything else small like jewelry.

Attaching a table to the bulkhead could be a little tricky if trying to miss the board that slides up in the bulkhead pass through. That thing is used very little on our boat.

Bob, we us the large dinning area even if it's cold or rainy.

There is actually 24 inches of space between opening for the front and the settee. I plan to mount it with flush mount screws under the opening partition. So my plan is to cut the small table essentially in half the long way and mounting that to the bulkhead just below the opening. That table is 22 inches long. This would create a storage shelf on the bulkhead with two drink holders and a space for the other stuff that normally collects on the table.

The swing out table can then be mounted to the bottom of that storage shelf and swing out with a leg like the cockpit table. It can be secured to the wall below when not in use.

But for now, we are just going to use some folding tables and see what exactly we want. Maybe we will just do the shelf and not the table and continue to use folding tables. We shall see.

I really like your full cockpit enclosure. That is something else we are seriously thinking of adding. If you don't mind me asking, how much did that cost? Also, I would love to see some pictures of the inside and the back.

Thanks,

Jesse

It wasn't cheap. $7000. That included making the Bimini solid without straps, adding handles on top of the dodger, new Bimini, connector, dodger, five glass dodger panels, seven panels around the cocktail with screens. They came to the boat with a truck and custom made it on the spot. Took them 2 1/2 days. I love it. My wife and I tried making these things ourselves in the past but you can't beat some one who does it for a living. It really helps spring and fall and rainy summer weekends. I love sitting in the cockpit dry while it's raining.

I don't have pictures of the back or inside but we launch in two days and next time I put it all up I will get you photos. The rear is three section and you can use the center one as a door. I store all the panels under the port seat inside the boat.

I like your table idea. A bit like the reverse of the older boats that had dish storage on the bulkhead and the table went up on front of it.

We don't use the big table much, either. We found this old table at a nautical consignment store and adapted it to fit on top of the cocktail table. I can spin it sideways and then swing the engine cover/stairway all the way open.

Ouch, that is a hefty price tag. Looks really nice. Have to think hard about that upgrade.
