Whats the longest distance you have sailed in your Hunter???I myself would like to sail from St cath to toronto 32NM but i am bit nervous.Any advice from you long term ownersJeff
........... in our H310 is three days. After that I have got to get to dry land and get in some serious running. A blue water sailor I am not.Given the right weather, a distance of 32 NM sounds quite reasonable. Go for it, providing your boat is in good shape, safetywise.Regards,s/v Island Hunter
We have pulled our h23 to lake superior a couple of times for a week at a time. We have sailed 50 nautical miles in a long day on several occasions. 5kts was an average good speed. If we dropped below 4kts for very long we would motor sail just so we didn't get back too late. On a reach we would get to nearly hull speed for extended periods. I carried an extra fuel tank secured in the back of the cockpit just incase we needed to motor. That gave me enough fuel if I had to motor most of the way.Personally, we found it much more fun to ""go" somewhere than just sailing around. We did watch the weather pretty close, because we didn't feel we had enough experience to be caught in a storm so far from shore.good luckWard
Would do that trip at the drop of a hat!!! Often sail to Niagara from Burlington which is a similar distance. Just watch the weather and enjoy the day.
