I am trying to determine the weight of my boat. The o'day site has the displacement of the 22' o'day as 2083- 2283. It does not say what measurement is used. Would I assume it is lbs and does that mean that that is the weight of the boat or just the water that it displaces? What I really want to know is how many tons (UK) does it weigh? If anyone can help, please e-mail me at tgosling@ibl.bm' Thanks

Weight

The O'Day weighs 2283 lbs. A british ton is 2240 lbs. Happy New Year!

Yes

Displacement = Weight Archimedes came up with that a few years ago. The weight of water that a floating body displaces is equal to it's weight. It's one of those boat talk things, they could just say the boat weights XXX pounds. Saying it displaces XXX pounds is exactly the same thing.

O'day always included people in thier displacement

The displacement that O'Day claimed for the 25 was about 4700 to 4800#. The actual displacement included about 700 to 800#s of people weight. The actual displacment of the 25 O'Day is about 4000# empty.I do not know the actual of your boat. r.w.landau
