Has anyone successfully removed both pieces of the nav table surface without dismantling the whole table? I want to resurface it, and thought I could remove it by undoing the screws underneith the back, stationary part. To get at them you have to remove the tray a few inches below the surface. I unscrewed that only to find it won't come out - must be glued as well. At that point I gave up and settled for just removing the hinged part. Any suggestions?

The tray in the nav table is both glued and staped in place. It's not too hard to remove. I did mine and plced two finger hole in it for easier removal as needed. It now just sits in place and make for much easier access to batteries.
