Dipstick

I just obtained my first diesel powered boat. It has a Universal 16hp. I was attempting to check the engine fluids today and could not find a dipstick for the engine oil or the transmission. Am I missing something? Can someone tell me where they should be located or is there another way to check fluids?

Manual

I would run, not walk, to purchase a manual. In the mean time ask a mechanic or look for Universal on the WEB

Finding Dipsticks

I have a Universal M12 and the dipsticks were also hard to find. There is a Universal web site that has labelled pictures of engines you can print. Be careful to make sure you know where the oil dipstick hole is when you take it out so you can get it back in the right place. On the M12 the oil dipstick is on the starboard side of the engine going straight into the block (no tube) and the transmission dipstick is built into the fill cap.
