Dink in the fibreglass

Hello,
I discovered a hole in the deck just forwards of the saloon hatch (hopefully picture attached). This might just be the cause of the recent leak when it rains. I am not sure how to fix this - is it a case of drilling out, filling with epoxy (which one?) and then finishing with gelcoat? Or can I just put gelcoat on top? Currently it is covered with ducttape while I figure out what to do

Lots of guys here with lots of experience, so you'll get some good answers. But if you don't already have one, pick up a copy of Don Casey's Sailboat Hull & Deck Repair. A parsimonious but comprehensive treatment on a wide variety of repairs.

The hard part is going to be getting that duct tape glue off..

Marine Tex would work. Good thing about it is that you can mix it up in small quantities without investing huge $$ in other materials.

Bad news is it cracks over time. Where is this hole? Is it somewhere where you see it all the time? If so, MT then some gelcoat over it.

MT can also be made to look a tad better if you place Saran wrap over it while it's curing.
