Cruise N' Carry Outboard, (12lbs)

I keep a 12lb, 1.5 H/P, Cruise N' Carry, 2 Cycle Outboard Motor on my Hunter 260 as a back up motor. Plan on using on an inflatable when I get one. I can only say good things about the motor. It has an air cooled (not water cooled) motor and this is the reason why it is so light. It reminds me of a weed wacker with a propeller on the end. When I use on my canoe, I actually have white water comming of the bow. Even though they went out of production in the early 70's you can still find them on the internet. I also know they have a 2.5 H/P version available and I have heard rumors of a 6 H/P. Good Luck!

sears 1.2hp

I have had a Sears 1.2hp for about 15 years. I bought it for a canoe and then used it for a while on a 18' daysailer. It moved the 18'er OK. Equivalent to the cruise and carry. I now use it on a 17' canoe. It is relatively noisey. If I was going to do a lot of motoring I would get another motor. Also it is weak for moving an inflatable very fast. On the daysailer it was OK because about the only time I motored was dead calm or the last 100yds to the dock. It is very light about 13 lbs and after a dunking all I did was drain the gas and carb, refill with fresh gas and it ran fine. Tom
