We also have a 26S and have towed the dinghy over 700 miles with no problems days on end but did set things up for that.

The first trip was with a floating tow line and the dingy would hit the boat and the line would foul in the outboard and rudder. I then converted the ladder....



...into a tow bar and all of those problems went away plus the ladder is...



... now a great boarding platform to get in and out of the dinghy and can still be easily lowered for swimming or getting in and out of the boat at home or on the road.

The other thing I did was to rig the dinghy to be ...



towed from her transom. That has also worked great and we used that on our Florida trips with no problems at all. The Zodiac tows flatter and it takes all of the strain off of the D-rings in the front.
