We use MarTek 370 davits on Ninkasi, an 1988 Hunter 33.5 They are overkill for out little Zodiac and 3.5 put-put. Our friend on Whisper, an 1986 Hunter 40, uses the same davits with his Apex Rib and 20HP Honda with no problems.

Woody, one thing to consider before buying is that davits are great in settled coastal or inter-island waters, but I wouldn't recommend any serious passages with your dingy hoisted in the davits. Continual rolling, breaking, offshore seas create friction and destabilization. There is no safe way to save your dingy once the conditions deteriorate. Our davits have served us well in settled conditions but we always break our dingy down and safely secure our outboard for any ocean passage. Good sailing, Ron

First of all those little boats are spelled dinghy and not dingy. Dingy is something completely different. Consider St. Croix Davits as a supplier/builder of davits. They have a lot of different configurations. Some davit companies rely on attaching their product to stern rails. Some stern rails are not strong enough to support this kind of weight. Be cautious.

I have Mar-Tek on my 32 Oday and I never leave the engine on the dink while its hanging in the davits and while in the ocean I make sure the dink is tied tight and snug to the inside part of the davits so it won't swing.....if you check out Ocean davit systems they have a good product and great installation instructions on how to secure a dink

After looking around and checking some of the brands out, I opted for Garhauer. The quality is great and you can't beat their prices. I keep the dink and engine on the davits for only short hops.
