We have a Fatty Knees hard dinghy. I bought a 6' cable bike lock. I run one end of the cable through a open-bottom dock cleat or other fastener, run the cable through the loop on that end, and secure it to the bow eye with the lock. Slows them down anyway. Also bought a really neat oar lock assembly from Edson -- it attaches to a seat and locks down the oars. Have to install it but it looks like a nice addition.Mike TurnerS/V AmityLong Beach
Go to a rigging shop and have a 20 foot long vinyl-clad cable with eyes made up, loop it through strong points on the engine and dink, and use a big lock. That will keep the drunks from "borrowing" the dink, but if a pro wants it, he'll get it, sooner or later. Have it insured.
Or, if your dingy is already bigger, better or newer, trade in that new Honda 4-cycle for a 30 year old Evinrude ... the more beat up the better ... which is what your dingy should be as well.
