I have a 1990's vintage Bombard Inflatable dingy. Wood floorboards and transom. The glue between the transom and the bottom of the boat (PVC) has failed which is causing water to leak into the boat. The rest of the boat is still in good condition so I would like to find a glue suitable to re-seal this joint.
I have searched the archieves without any luck for this particular joint (wood to floor). I have asked at WM without any luck.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Throw it away

A few years back i bought one of these here in Naples at one of the big box stores. It was a Bombard by Zodiac and it lasted about a year until the glue started failing. I search all over and found that it was not repairable with any guarantee anywhere. I finally cut it up for scrap pieces and saved the floorboards for various uses. Never aghain will I buy a Zodiac product. Learned the hard way. Terry

bombard repair

I had the same thing happen to a bombard. It was still under warranty and one of their service centers fixed it fine. You can do it, but you need the right glue. Bob

5200?

I FIXED SEVERAL SEAMS IN AN OLDER INFLATABLE BOAT USING 5200 AND THEY HELD FINE. SEEMS TO ME THAT EVERYBODY WORRIES THAT ANYTHING YOU STICK TOGETHER WITH THIS STUFF IS IMPOSSIBLE TO SEPERATE AND IN THIS CASE IT IS A GOOD THING... WHAT HAVE YOU GOT TO LOOSE

5200

I am not an advocate of 5200, but in this case, I have known many that have used it successfully. Your dink is pretty much shot, so try the 5200, you dont have anything to lose.
All I can attest to is that it worked fine for several people I know that used it in a similar repair.

Good Luck

Had the problem, factory repaired it.

The cause of the problem was leaving it in an unheated, poorly ventilated garage. The emps inside were worse than leaving it out in the sun. No problems since the fix, but I don't leave it where it can that hot anymore.

It is pretty clear to me that they used a solvent to get the old glue off and then simply used their adhesive (which you can buy from Defender or whoever) to glue it back together. After you get the glue, get the solvent they recommend for clean up.

glue for PVC

West Marine sells glue for PVC repairs such as this. My dad bought some this morning to do a similar repair.
