I guess I should fess up for the reason first. Backing down to set the anchor and got the dinghy painter in the prop. Ripped one of the "D" rings off the dinghy. Have new rings, now just need to attach them. What is the best adhesive to use for this. Dinghy is a Mercury, and the one small patch on it, is about a year old, and now beginning to come loose. Used the recommended patch kit for it. Have seen some posts about using 5200 on dinghys. Anyone tried doing this with 5200, or another adhesive that worked. Would prefer to only have to do it one time. Any and all suggestions appreciated.

Is it PVC or Hypalon?

I wouldn't recommend 5200. There are correct adhesives and methods for either inflatable material.

I agree with Jviss..

Don't use 5200. The prep work is key and it's critical to use the right adhesive and cleaner/prep solvent.

The adhesives are different for Hypalon vs. PVC and Mercury makes both Hypalon and PVC inflatables so make sure you know what you have. I've seen repairs on both Hypalon and PVC last well over 10-12 years using the right stuff. If 5200 worked they build them that way at the factory...;)

Hypalon adhesive will work

on both Hypalon and PVC. PVC adhesive will only work on PVC. Both are available at most marine stores.

Dinghy Repair

I have used the procedure at this link
http://www.allinflatables.com/support/pvc.html
to repair a PVC dinghy with PVC glue from WM.
The repair was a grab handle on the top side, still holding strong 6 months later.
