Dinghy Ouboard Size Question

No, I don't have a shroud, but I did put a Dole-Fin on my 8hp Nissan and it made a huge difference, then, about a month later, I saw an ad for that shroud/thruster thing. Not only does it provide a fin with lift, it captures and directs aft the tip vortex off the prop, and I'm pretty sure I saw 30% in there somewhere, but it was a few years ago.

Maybe you should keep the motor you got and buy him a sunfish or a better yet a Laser. I had my 8 and 10 year old take a learn to sail program this past summer and now they think power boaters are incompetent knuckleheads and won't even go on a speedboat. Might be tough at 13 to get the genie back in the bottle, but who knows.

I will tell you it's a little unnerving to watch an 8 and 10 year old out on a lake by themselves. Of course my Dad reminds me that I did the same thing and he didn't even watch from the shore.

Steve: We have a 8' sailing dinghy as well. It didn't get used this past summer. I posted it on this site for sale but had no calls. I decided not to sell it as he will be old enough next year to use it.

Ok, you got me thinking. Maybe I want it for me - so that I can go fast????
