I'm looking for wisdom on what makes the best dinghy for towing behind my Oday 25. We'll be doing some cruising on Buzzards Bay and I want a dinghy that's stable to tow and not so small that only two people can get in it. I see a lot of 8' fiberglass dinghys in the want ads. Seems they should be OK, with less drag than an inflatable, right? Appreciate any thoughts.

I like my little Zodiac

Tim - I went through this process last year. I went with an inflatable because I take a lot of non-sailors out with me and was concerned that someone unused to the water would be very uncomfortable in a tippy hardshell, or might even dump it over. I bought a Zodiac 260, and Merc 3.3 to push it. The whole thing weighs less than seventy pounds and stows below easily. YMMV, Justin - O'day Owners' Web

My Dinghy

I have a 8' fiberglass dinghy (Boatex). I pull it behind the 25. I also row it, sail it and motor it. 2 of those 3 attributes are not desireable in a inflatable IMHO. I also think my dinghy tracks better than what i've seen in others inflatables. Having a deep keelson, it does not hunt around. I also have a tonneau cover that keeps it dry. My boys are discovering the joys of sailing it. At moorings, other kids are bombing around at high speed in their parents inflatables, mine are learning how to sail in ours. Suits my needs. Don
