I "think" I want davits on my Catalin 320 but have no experience with them. Looking for pros and cons. I shopped the Annapolis show yesterday and have a reasonable price quote but feel I need more information. So those of you with dinghy davits, what do you like and dislike about them?

It depends.

They are very 'weight conscious'. The most important thing is to not overload them for the condition you're using them. You know, rough water means less capacity.

I remember life

Without them and with them, one advantage is not having to leave the dink in the water next to the boat or drag it home every time and having to deal with it when trying to navigate a small harbor or slip,I use one davit to lower and raise the engine too,A disadvanage is I cannot back into a slip with it hanging there (I can't back up any way)so I always bow in at my dock and if I need to I take the dink down and turn the boat around. Its also a great storage bin for extra items.I have a photo without the dink hanging because I'm in it taking the picture.
