Dinette table

Does anyone know where I can get info on the dinette table used in the U shape galley of the C30? It is a Zwaardvis #64161. A previous owner bolted a couple of 2x4's underneath the table, evidently to give it more support when used as the double berth. It appears that there were some pieces that swung out from the central fitting to support the drop leafs. I am guessing at that, but the drop leaf feature is kaput due to lack of ??? Also, the tensioner (big knob on the underside) now does nothing. Emails to Catalina and Zwaardvis have gone unanswered. Any advice, clues, spare parts, remedies, etc. would be appreciated. Thanks, Tom McC.

Not from the Factory?

Tom, I don't think the dinette was originally designed as a drop-leaf. I used to own a C30 dinette model, and the table was one piece. The whole thing was either up or down. My guess is that the PO cut the table to make it a drop leaf design, and then bolted in the 2x4 when the drop leaf design collapsed. You should be able to take the 6-8 screws out of the base, and take the whole thing out for a better look. Not sure where you can get replacement parts, but my first try would be to call the Catalina parts dept. (They are notorious for not answering email). They might have the parts, or steer you in the right direction. Good luck on the project.

NOT REAL THRILLED WITH THE TABLE IN MY C-22, EITHER. PLANNED ON AT LEAST DOING AWAY WITH THE CHEESY LAMINATE OVER PARTICLE BOARD SET-UP AND REPLACING IT WITH HARDWOOD. SUGGEST YOU MIGHT TRY THE SAME WITH HARDWARE FROM A LOCAL RETAILER OR, IF NOT ABLE, SPEAK TO ANY LOCAL CABINET MAKING SHOP. DROP LEAF TABLE OF ANY SIZE AND DESIGN SHOUULD BE CAKE TO A REPUTABLE CABINET MAKER.
