Where and/or who do I contact to purchase the additional bench and table for converting an L shaped dinette into a U shaped dinette? I e-mailed this query to Catalina Direct and got no response. Thanks.

That's not a 30 forum. I'm moving up to a 30 from a 250. The dinette configuration, L or U, is a 30 setup, not a 25 or 250.

AADiver,
Didn't know components were ever available for the modification you're considering. I did my own. Depending on your skills and tool inventory, it's not that big of a deal.

I see we sail the same waters. You have an open invitation if you'd like to see mine first hand.

AA,
Having seen Neil's pictures a while back in another post, I have put this conversion on my to do list. That table's just too d@mn3d long and a waste of space. However, I am waiting until I have fixed my compressed mast column support in the bilge area, as I'd really like it if my head door would close. (-:

I'm also looking

AA, I did an exact post about a month ago and I was never able to get an answer. I own a 1984 Catalina 30 and have seen sever photos of other 30's with the u-shape seating but I have never beed able to find out where they came from. Neil comes the closest and did a great job but I am not as handy and wanted to find one from a manufacture or boat salvage. Good luck and I will be watching your post.

For those of you considering the modification, the most critical aspect is the table support system. The standard table has the support of the main bulkhead and a prop type leg but with the U shaped dinette, you're asking the table leg to handle the entire load.

I've got an ample table leg but where I get a little wobble is from the cabin sole flexing. Bottom line - be prepared to spend some $$ on the table support, you'll be unhappy otherwise.
