Is there a quick and easy way to convert WMA files to MP3 files? Seems most of the files on my PC are WMA format. My new CD player has a USB port that will play MP3 files but not WMA (go figure). So when I copy the WMA files to the flash drive is there an easy way to make them MP3 files?

I-Tunes can convert WMA to MP3...I think...

Here's what the Help file in I-Tunes says:

Importing music and video already on your computer
If you have audio or video files on your computer, you can import them into iTunes so that they appear in your iTunes library.

If you have an iPod, you can add music and video to it only by using iTunes. To add media from MusicMatch Jukebox or Audible Manager to your iPod, you need to first import it into iTunes.

Here are ways to import files into your iTunes library:

  • Choose File > Add to Library, and locate a file or folder to add.
  • Drag a file or folder from the desktop to the iTunes window.

By default, adding items to your iTunes library places a pointer to each file in the iTunes folder; the original file remains in the current location. For information about copying files to the iTunes folder instead of referencing them, click this link:
Copying files to your iTunes folder automatically

If the file is an unprotected WMA file and you have Windows Media Player Series 9 or later installed, iTunes makes a copy of the file and adds it to your iTunes library. The original WMA file remains unchanged.

In the Linux World, there's a program called Lame that converts just about any audio format to MP3. There may be a Windows version...

MP3 files

For starters iItunes is not MP3 anymore, they have moved beyond this format to something newer. If yor player is an apple device then you have only but follow Peggie's advice. If yor player is not apple compatible but instead an MP3 player then you need to convert your files to MP3 format using any of the free utilities found on the internet.
I have a marine stereo on my boat that plays CD's and MP3 files but it also has an AUX port for plugging external devices to. I can run a standard male jack cord into my iPod headphone port then into the AUX port and play my iPod directly into the stereo. or I can have files converted into MP3 and copied onto a USB stick and play those through the USB port on my stereo or I can just play CD's that are recored in MP3 format.
I can also run the standard male jack cord from the headphone port on my DVD player and into the AUX port and hear the DVD's through the stereo instead of headphones.

I have it installed on one of my computers. "LAME for Audacity v3.98.2" as of July of last year.
