Digests are simply daily aggregations of individual messages. When you
join the group you are given the choice to receive messages emailed to
you either individually or several or more at a time, in digests. So,
effectively, if you've read all messages sent on any day, you've also
read the digest. Here's the description from Yahoo:
Daily Digest
The option to choose if you want to see all messages but limit the
amount of email you receive. We'll compile an email of up to 25
messages and send daily (special notices too!).Many people prefer to receive digests rather than a constant stream of
individual messages, particularly where the subject matter of a group
normally is not time sensitive and where there are lots of messages
daily. Try it out by editing your membership in the group and changing
your email preferences.
