Difficulty getting into forward gear

I have a 2005 Hunter 27 and am recently having a hard time getting the forward gear to engage. I have no problem going in reverse and neutral. Is anybody else having this issue?

That helps! I am able to shift it into forward manually at the engine so I will check the cable.
