We have a 1976 Irwin 37 center cockpit sloop. We seem to have a lot of difficulty with steering. The helm is slow to answer and the steering wheel is hard to turn. Steering a straight course is a struggle. We've had the boat for ~5 years and it has always been like this. I've heard that to some extent sloppy steering is normal for this model boat but I find it hard to believe this is normal. So I wonder if something is wrong in the steering. Are there any obvious things I can check? Or obvious related problems I should expect for a 35 year old boat of this model? Thanks! -Steve
