I've been looking at internet classified ads for Hunter 23.5's and the 26' models. I've noticed different names and descriptions for boats, such as CruisePac and Weekender. I'm wondering if these descriptions indicate a specific set of options like the "luxury package" on cars. As a follow up. How useful do owners find the pop top? I'm planning to do weekends on board once I finalize my buying decision.

Equipment - Standard vs Options

I think you will find that these various descriptons refer to equipment which either comes as a standard package or is optional. The Hunter cruise-pak is a set of equipment that comes as standard with the boat - supposedly so you can dump it in the water and start cruising - anchor, life vests, dishes, etc. I suggest you look at Hunter's website and they will give you the details - I think. On H26, sternseats were an option when I got mine in 1995 and I would highly recommend them - most came with them. Poptop is nice, but the canvas version for the H26 can only be used when you aren't sailing - it blocks your view. Keep working the sites and you will get the info you seek.

Cruise Pac is the Hunter safety pacakgae described in the other post. Weekend refers to any boat that you can stay comfortable on for the weekend. The 26 is definetly one to consider. Oh, I remember years ago another mfg. indicated their 16 with cuddy cabin was a weekender. If you are 3 feet tall, I guess they are right but with my big ole buzzle butt, I don't think so. Pop Top

My first mate and I weekend on our H23.5 and find the pop top very useful. The head room is restricted without it and when you are doing anything below it is nice to have. Mike S/V Sail La Vie
