Different battery condition if read from nut as against post

I have 2 wm deep cycle agm 92, which I have just brought home. I have charged them up using the optima charger which ended up showing me to be on the maintenance cycle. When I checked the condition using a digital meter the reading showed on the nut connections that the battery was no good and high impedance. On the posts, however, the batteries were at 100% and low impedance. The CCA's were also very different. Any reasons for this?

The nuts are made most likely of stainless steel and are poor conductors of electricity. They are there only to provide compression for the battery cable lugs. The posts are where you should be measuring, that's why they're different.

Thanks for the info. Does that mean it is better to charge via the posts?

No I'm using lugs that connect to the nuts
