Well we filled up with diesel this weeknd for the first time after initially filling the boat when we got her, and we calculated that we burn 4/10ths of a gallon per engine hour. We are pleased with that as we needed a benchmark before leaving for our 10 day sailing trip.
Not sure how that compares with others?

What engine? Our M25 (1986) burns about that, I use 0.5 gallons per hour as a simple rule-of-thumb. Been inputting it to a spreadsheet for the past 15 years.

We calculated our usage at 0.35 gallons per hour. So we are right in the same range as you. Like Stu, we use 0.5 gallons per hour for planning.

Fair winds,

Jesse

That usage of 1/2 gal per engine hour is what we will use depending on weight wave action etc. better to be alittle over!

We cruise between 2000 and 2500 RPM at around 5-6 kts depending on wind and current. At that type of cruising we use about 0.35 gallons per hour.

I cruise my C34.xp25 at 6-6.5 kts. I figure a little over 1/2gal hour. My tach shows at 2700 range for a comfortable rpm.

5.5 - 5.7 knots is usually around 2,400 RPM and 1/2 gallon an hour.

Consumption goes way up if I push her over six knots motoring.

JK you're doing great at .35, just curious what prop do you have?
