Diesel Fuel System

Our 1998 Beneteau 321 with a Yanmar 3GM30F has been on the hard for the past year and won’t be launched till next season .When pulled the diesel fuel additive was added to the fuel tank before the the engine was shut down.the question is should I drain the diesel tank at the start of next season and fill with fresh fuel.

@Beneteau There is no necessary reason to do that. Old fuel and new fuel burn pretty much the same.
It depends.
How much fuel do you have in the tank?
Do you want to clean the tank?
Have you had any issues in the fuel filter? Is it clean?
When you changed the fuel filter did it look like this?

Tank is full and clean ,filters both primary and secondary are clean changed season before las haul out and those filters were clean

John had so much practice changing dirty fuel filters he could be back running in under 5 minutes - assuming he had fuel in the tanks. :poke:

Don’t worry about the fuel, work on the engine oil and coolant changes. Make sure you have a new o-ring in your fuel cap.

Biocide conversation it seems is like anchors.... in 15 years I have never used the stuff, but I do make sure I use all my fuel and keep my tanks clean.

Personally, I wouldn’t worry about it if you had added stabilizer to the fuel. Due to extenuating circumstances, my boat remained on the hard through two Michigan winters with a half full fuel tank. We did an oil change, one of the batteries still indicated 12.5 volts, launched, and the engine started immediately. It took us half the season to burn most of the fuel remaining.
