I have an annoying fuel leak from around the fuel pump. I can't see exactly where it is leaking from. I thought it was the banjo unions on the input and output of the fuel pump but it still leaked after I tightened them. Has anyone seen this symptom before?

Tightening is not always the solution

In fact it might even make the problem worse. There are washers on both sides of the feed tubes (banjo unions) Part #23414-080000. Tightening sometimes squashes them, allowing more fuel to seep out. When I replaced those and properly tightened the tubes back on, it solved my problem. Good luck

Diesel Leak Fuel Pump

HI, There, I have a 3GM30f in my boat and I HAD a small fuel leak around the pump I found it was the pump lever shaft seeping fuel. it is cheaper to replace the pump than to order parts for seals the shaft. A yanmar pump was 58.00 I believe its the same pump. Its just a thought. Ihope it works out ok for you Frederick Pierce.

may not be the pump

I had the seemingly same problem. found a subtle leak from the bleeder valve. I replaced the little metal washer and have been fuel leak free since

On my 2GM it was a pinhole leak in ...

that mesh covered hose. Didn't find it until it finally got big enough to spray diesel around the engine compartment. The other leak I had was after I tightened the fuel filter retaining ring too tight and it cracked. Those are the only problems i had with the fuel in 21 years, except for one water problem that I solved by going to a racor prefilter with a clear bottom. V
