Diesel deck filler

I’m going to replace my diesel fill deck fitting and need to stretch (extend) the fill hose as the existing metal filler has a 90 deg elbow to a hose barb and the new nylon filler has a straight hose barb.
What are your thoughts about adding a plastic or nylon 1½" elbow and a short length of new hose to bridge from the vertical end of the new filler to the horizontal end of the existing (two year old) 1½" hose? All of the hoses will be properly supported, rated A1 for diesel fuel and will be double clamped. Don’t know the rating (or if any exists) for plastic and/or nylon elbows.

Properly clamped and supported it should be fine. Was the original filler unavailable or out of production? Metal is the best route, but lacking that your method should work. Heating the hose ends make them easier to slide on. I've used boiling water and gloves.

I concur. It's just a fill hose, no pressure. It'd take years for diesel to attack it.

And I use teflon grease on my hoses for insertion..
