I have used FPPF additives since commissioning my boat in '01.
There have been a number of posts on this forum re this subject over the years. Just how much benefit additives (possibly excepting biocide) really provide has been the subject of much debate.

I've been racing a small outboard powered sail boat since before ultra low sulfur diesel, In fact I was surprised to see the 1 gallon of offroad diesel I bought to backfill new fuel filters labeled as such. I read lots and lots of scary predictions about low sulfur diesel, but they didn't stick with me as I thought my cruising boat days were over. I paid more attention to the ethanol scary predictions. Now the turn has wormed or something. I am a diesel auxilliary guy again. Will look into fppf. Thanks

I second the stanadyne
Been using it in the pickup for years and never had a problem with fuel or fuel system. The boat had fungus in the tank when i purchased it. Started using stanadyne, a couple of filter changes the last set ran a full season can came out clean. I also like the idea that it lubricates the pump and injectors.

Besides Killem, I routinely use "Lubricity Plus Fuel Power" and "8+ Cetane Improver".... and sometimes "Startron" (not an FPPF product). Do they do any good ?.... I don't know; .... the diesel mechanics I talk to smile and say "well, they probably don't hurt any, and maybe they help some".. :Liar:
As "Shell" said, good, CLEAN, fresh, diesel is more important than any additive, but since you generally don't know how clean or old the fuel you buy actually is, maybe that's a reasonable reason to use the additives ..

A number of diesel mechanics in my area recommend the judicious use of "Pri-D" additive to diesel. While using the freshest and cleanest fuel is always best, the usually low number of hours on a sailboat diesel often means diesel stays in the tank for a while. So I've used "Pri-D" (and an off the shelf cetane booster as my Yanmar requires a rating of 45 and most stations sell diesel with a 40 cetane rating) ever since I bought my current boat 8 years ago. While you can never prove a negative, and I change my primary and secondary filters regularly and triple filter all fuel going into my tank), I have yet to have fuel-related engine problem.
