We have a M25 diesal engine on our C 30 which is in dry dock. Is it possible to run the engine while it is out of the water for maintance whithout causing damaging to the engine. Thanks for any help you can give.
Assuming you have a raw water intake for cooling it should be ok so long as you provide water while running. You can disconnect the intake hose from the through-hull fitting and place in a bucket of water or make a fitting to be able to connect to a garden hose. I would not recomend putting in gear though as you have no water to act as a lubricant for your shaft.
Second to a good supply of water, you must be certain that your boat will not fall over from the vibrations caused by the engine. Extra hull supports with chains are a must.
