...the one about the newbies out settling in on their first sail...the boat started taking on water fast...the Admiral said, "quick, do something nautical!" The Captain whipped out a credit card!

Unfortunately........

....there's a lot of truth there! Too many "sailors" don't have a clew ;)

Cute

It reminds me of the eager racer who wrapped a line around his mainsail to see if he could add a couple more knots.

I am a newbie, but...

I am tempted to ask the Admiral to get me some prop wash when I am cleaning the outboard or to get me the line stretcher out of the tool box. However, I am currently in good health and want to remain that way. ;-)

Did ya hear about the charter group that

contacted the charter office and complained that they had chartered for a week but had only been supplied with three anchors?

Don't forget propeller pitch, flight line, a scale

for weighing the anchor, rhumb line, a proper main brace splice.

Keep a bottle

of port on board so you always know where starboard is (opposite the port, of course).

I always keep a bottle of cheap port on board

in case of bad weather. Because I was taught to use any port in a storm.

What do you do....

when the boat heels too much and all of a sudden, the port is starboard? Ross, love the anchors joke. ;D When I was in the army, we would send the nugs for an ST1 kit, or an IDtenT package........ some of them took a while to get it. Cheers, Bob
