Sorry about the duplicates - I'm not very good at postings! We're considering installing a Dickinson Antarctic diesel heater in our 44' sailboat. Anybody have any input/experience installing/advise for us on that? Thanks in advance for your suggestions!

Some... Dickinson info

I own the propane heater from them. Love it. Really heats things up (better than I could have expected!). I know the deisel's need to be cleaned more often (soot buildup). And that you will need a pump to get deisel from your tank to the stove. I hear that the flu run length is also important in proper burning adjustment. Dickinson had a website with a forum you can get specific answers to, but couldn't find the forum. But the website is informative. Also, the U.S. service technitain is based in Everett, WA if you want to make an appointment with him. Nice guy. You see I had (user initiated) troubles with my unit & met with the technitian. He got me straightened out.

No, but I have an Ardic diesel

I don't have a Dickinson Antarctic. Mine is an Ardic diesel. a forced air heater by Volvo. It puts out 12800 BTU, using only 14 oz of diesel/hour, at 2.5 amps. It is installed in the stern cockpit locker and exhusts out the stern. I have 2 air hoses. One goes to the main berth, and the other in the main cabin. The thermostat is at the nav station. It heats up the cabin very quickly, and has allowed us to go on overnighters during our winters here in the NorthWest.
