We are going to take our boat up from Toronto to Midland and heard some horror stories about River depth and Lake depth. The boat draws 5.5 feet. I am told that there are NO marinas in the whole area with enough water to get us to the gas dock to fill the diesel tanks. I find it hard to believe, yet it would be a BIG mistake to ignore it. Any suggestions greatly appreciated. Warren feldstein

Source for Marinas

Warren, You might want to have a look at this site http://www.marinasontario.com/frame.html you will find phone numbers for marinas in every port you will pass on your journey. Bridgeview in Sarnia makes a good stopover I am told.

You can find an accesable fuel dock at Gregory marina on the Detroit River. It is on the west side of the river between Belle Isle and the Michigan Shore line. The depth is approx 20' due to freighter traffic in this area. The next fuel dock will be Sarnia to the north. You will not find another fuel dock that your boat wil;l get to on Lk. St. Clair. Good luck.

What about Jefferson Beach Marina for Fuel

Unless the water depth is much worse then I thought, I would expect Jefferson Beach Marina on Lake St. Clair would still be accessable. I have not been there by boat for several years, but last time I looked they still had a fuel dock. It would be located between 9 and 10 mile Roads. 9 mile pier is marked by a tall lone apartment complex.

Erieau Marina

Erieau Marina on (Lake Erie) has lots of depth & easy access to their fuel docks . Check out their site at erieaumarina.com for more information. Leamington Marina (Lake Erie) should have sufficient depth as well.
