they are, generally, accurate at detecting moisture in the core. I wish I had one in my toolbox (they can be a bit pricey). If anyone knows where to get one for around $100.00, I'd be interested...
Moisture meters are not all that accurate according to well trained surveyors. There are numerous articles written about false readings.They use them to a point, but rely on their experience with sound to verify the presence of moisture in a hull or deck.
