Or rub rail. Folks who know more than I have called it both. I tried to post this once before but it seems to have disappeared. I have an old Irwin 24' with a torn up aluminum toe rail cap and I can't find any kind of replacement. Taco shows nothing on their web site and a rep there said if it's not on the web site they don't have it. The guys in the boat yards around Annapolis say try an Irwin owners' forum; maybe somebody knows something. It's an aluminum extrusion one inch by one inch with a bridge across it at 3/4" that creates a slot for an arced strip of mahogany about 1/4'' high. I need about nine feet or so, from the next to the last stanchion to the transom.
From what I'm told the only place I might find that is where somebody is dismantling old Irwins. Anybody know anything? The best spring sailing weather on Chesapeake Bay is fast disappearing and I'm still on the hard.
