I would purchase sails through the SBO site. The best thing here is that Phil & Bly stand behind their products. If you have a problem, they will help make it right.

There are other cheaper off-shore options, but you have to deal with folks that may or may not be as ethical as the SBO crew.

I have not lived in So. Cal. since 1975, my only contact down there is with a few of the fellow sailors on this board. I get down there once or twice a year to do some shopping.

A better teak alternative to mahogany is IPE. It is a widely available material for home decks. Normal dimensions are 5.5"x 3/4" or 7/8" Ipe is rock hard, but works fine with normal wood-working tools. Heavy in natural oils so its very rot resistant. Much/much less $'s than teak. Each piece of IPE is usually different grain pattern and color and you probably can find a close match to teak appearance. At our local lumber suppliers, I can spend some time to find what I want. Also if you pick say a 12' piece, you might be able to buy say a 4' piece off of it since the lumber yard can put the remainder in their 8' bin.
