The speed and power of this sucker was amazing. We lost power (and all the good stuff that goes with it, like AC on 100-deg days) for four days. My marina in Deale, Md, clocked winds of 69 kts, but there was little damage there. Don't mess with Mother Nature, she always wins....

We got pounded at Old Fields Pt on the Elk. Many big trees down, one hit our house. It was the worst storm damage since Isabel. Damn Tulip Poplar ain't worth a S$%T! no tap root. It was the neighbors tree of course. Our driveway is blocked and many other trees down. Boat was OK, but took a pounding...all the pots and pans in the oven, (which has a fairly strong spring loaded door) were all over the cabin floor.

Seaview marina in south jersey clocked winds at 85mph.. the marina was full of people overnighting too.. i was told my boat was blown over far enough to bury the rail.. my slip neighbor said that our mast was inches from their deck. that is one HELL of a knockdown.. and in my own slip no less... haha...

My mother-in-law lives in eastern Iowa. She called my wife (here in Maryland) to tell her about the storm. My wife called me on the boat to warn me. I didn't believe, at the time, that the same storm traveled that entire distance and stayed intact. I guess I was mistaken.

Hey Warren, I was on the boat with two small kids at Herrington Harbor North through the whole thing. My son woke up briefly. My daughter slept through the whole thing. You said the winds were clocked at 69 knots. I just want to verify that you meant knots and not mp.h. I could be convinced that it was 69 knots.

Thanks.

McZube...

In preparing my insurance claim I was able to find a Weather Underground station here at the top of the Bay that recorded a top wind gust of 93 MPH.

Glad you and your kids were safe.
