Depth transducer

If i were to replace my Raymarine Depth Transducer but don't want to rethread the cable through all the nooks and cannies, can I just splice and joint the new cable to old?

THANK YOU! I didn't do the Depth Transducer that time as it was connection/contact issue. So forgot about this enquiry. Now my friend's boat having same issue....but not contact problem.
Sign of me getting old and forgetting things
