Depth/Speed Dead?

I have a Nexus Star Sea Data speed/depth meter that has stopped working. When I turn on the instrument breaker, it beeps, but doesn't display anything. I do have power to the instrument, and I've loosened and retightened all of the connections at the meter, but it displays nothing. We've had some serious lightening in the area recently, and I may have been victimized, but I'm curious why it still beeps! IF it's done as I suspect, what are the chances of utilizing the existing transducers and just replacing the instrument itself? I really don't want to pull the boat out again (just purchased and surveyed)if I don't have to. Your suggestions are appreciated as always. Thanks! Bob

Good luck with Nexus

I have a nexus system on my boat. The system is just over a year old and it seems Nexus has changed owners and now longer support the older ( one year!!!) systems. I have tried to get some information from them but no replies. Ron Eddleman

No luck so far with Nexus

You're right..at least they haven't responded to my email. I worked on it most of the weekend, with no apparent improvement..then, was sitting in the cockpit, and the screen appeared, then slowly dissolved; like a capaciter was bleeding off the power. Very wierd, but I think it's in my wiring somehwhere, and if so, I can probably fix it. Just a matter of finding it now. It's inconsistent, which makes it a little more difficult. Thanks for the replies!
