Depth/Speed again and again

Yep I know this subject has been flogged to death "however" I just wanted to check! I am about to fit a NAVMAN Multi to my 260 (speed and depth) and am yet to recieve all the bits but I would assume there will be two thru-hulls to fit. Now the question has been answered before on this forum but I just wanted to check before I go drilling holes. I figure I will have to mount them under the aft berth to get away from the water ballast tank. How far out from the centre line of the hull should I put them. Knowing that on the windward side one of them may be out of the water should she heel to much. I beleve from previouse posts that the bilge pump motor may interfere with the workings of the depth transducer??? So I guess I need to keep the transducer away as much as possible! If you are going to suggest a fish finder and a GPS forget it cos I reckon yachts and fish don't mix (ha ha).

Want pictures?

If you would like, I can take pictures of mine tonight and post them for you. They were dealer installed. I can't vouch for how "correct" they are - other than to say I have had no problems with the depth transducer as it is not that far from my bilge pump. I don't think that it should ever be any issue unless the bilge pump was running - then I would think that I had bigger issues than not knowing the depth :) I have not had a chance to do so yet, but before you get it wired, you might want to consider getting a small bottle of anti-fouling paint that west-marine sells for transducers and putting it on your knot meter - that is is you have that kind of trouble where you live. Mine knot-meter always winds up clogged with small mollusks and shrimp!

Combination

Mark, I have a combination transducer for mine, so only one hole was necessary. I wouldn't drill the hole until you see what you get. Mine is about 6" from the bilge pump and dosen't show any interference. Although the bilge pump never runs except for the couple times I forget to close the valve and install the vent plug.
