On a recent cruise (in foggy Maine!) my Horizon DS10 started giving unreadable nonsense. The transducer is clean and power seems ok. Ideas from the group?

Look for a crimp or squash in the transducer cable. Would make a big
difference. Check its connection at the readout end for looseness or
corrosion.

Doug, Give Horizon a call. they benchtested our windspeed indicater @ no
charge. If it isn't the gauge it is probably the transducer. Did you by any
chance cut and splice the cable? Walt, Lyric

No, but maybe I squished the cable. I was rummaging around a lot in the stbd
cockpit locker removing and restowing a heavy anchor so maybe I messed the
cable.

Nicholas,
I have had trouble with my DS 10 also.. It turns out that the head was going
bad not the transducer. If you contact Horizon, you can find them on the
web, they will check out you head for about $35. If you are the original
owner, wink wink no documentation required, they will replace it for you
with a new DS 45 at a very good discount. My new transducer, I went with
the in hull as opposed to the through hull, along with the new head cost me
about $135.00. Also the new head will plug into the old transducer. I did
this with my unit and it seems to be working great. Next season I will pull
out the old transducer and put in the new in side one. I didn't have time
this year to get involved with patching up the hull. Any way I had great
service from them and highly recommend you call them.
