I installed a new Signet transducer and guage on my 1985 C27 because of deep water failure. The new unit performs no better than the old. The unit is accurate at shallow depths but will blink at depths greater than about 20 feet with engine on or off. The guage was rechecked by Signet. The lead on the transducer is coiled in a 3 foot figure eight and does not work any better when laid out. The depth trasducer is mounted just off center next to the universal engine and slightly behind the keel. The Signet water speed sensor is located in the bow. Presumably this was the original factory setup. There must be a 1000 boats with a similar setup. I am wondering if the depth transducer should be in the bow where the speed sensor is?
