What is the right amount of dept on your outboard motor, have a 9.9 honda.Had boat yard put new bracket on, says 6 to 8 inches dept is ok?Bracket has one position in the water or out. Please help
When I motor my 25 at 5.5 knots, the stern rides lower than at dockside. The mounting board almost drags in the water. Wait to see how you boat is underway before you consider any changes.
Your motor should tell you in the users manual how deep it should be when down in the water. My Honda 8 hp has it in my owners manual. I played around with mine to figure out where the mount should be installed. I have an O'Day 26. I put the motor on the mount in the down position held it all up with a line around the railing marked the holes then drilled into the transom for the bolts. I put a heavy piece of plywood for backing. When I was all done I was off about 1/2 inch deeper than I should have been. Works fine. You have more motor than you need.
