We took our O'Day 26 out for the first sail of the season and the depth gauge started out just fine, then began blinking. Occasionally it would stop blinking, but then start again. We shut it off and restarted it, but the same thing happened. Any ideas what is wrong or how to fix it? Thanks

Depth Guage Problems

I have a similar malady. My through-hull sensor is located on the port side of my keel, about a foot away. When I'm on port tack (wind over the port side) my guage works intermitently. That is, as the sensor gets closer to the waterline as the boat heels the more turbulence is created and therefore craps out(blinks). No problem on a starboard tack. Couls this be your problem? Don

How much bottom paint is over it?

Which depth sounder is it? Some of them hate having bottom paint over the transducers. It is possible that this is the problem. Justin - O'day Owners' Web
