Depth Finder

Hi Popeye: I have a Pirahna Max 15 (older version of 215) on my Catalina 22. It works great. It's nothing fancy but easy to use and easy to take the screen off and store below. It came with a transom mount transducer that supposedly could work as shoot thru hull type. I couldn't get it to shoot thru but Humminbird has an exchange program that allows you to trade in the unused transom mount for another type of transducer.I chose an interior shoot thru hull puck type transducer. after I got the puck type It shot thru my hull just fine. I found out where it shot thru the best ( up under the "v" birth) before I mounted anything. Then I routed the wire back from the transducer. You are suppose to epoxy the puck down but I used the toilet bowl wax ring trick and it has been that way ever since. It comes with a temp. sensor which I don't use. I think I pay $70.00 for the whole setup & worth every penny. Hope this helps! Phil

Pirahna 215

Hi Popeye, I bought one this year for $89 and love it. I epoxied mine in for through the hull and it did not work! I was able to knock it off with hammer and screwdriver, no harm done. I mounted the transducer on the transome and ran the cable through the scupper (self drain hole) from there I had some hardware in the back of the boat where I drilled a hole to get the cable into the interior of boat. I mounted the unit on a round piece of plywood I stained & varnished which I can place out on the cockpit seat through companion way, and or put back in cabin out of the way. This set-up works great for me. Also with the temp sensor, I know if I want to swim or not. My 2 cents worth. Brian
