Where is the best location for the transducer? The transom or inside the hull. Does the keel affect sounding?

But mine is stuck onto the inside of the hull right behind the ballast tank.

I just did mine yesterday...

...and it works great. I used a fishfinder and installed the transducer to the port side of the keel and set it in epoxy. Some folks say to set it in silicone, however, the bubbles in silicone will affect the outcome. Email me if you want more info: bartellmike@aol.com.
